Massive Ray!

The highlight of the day for the Bristol boys out on a charter trip from Minehead on Sunday 27/04/08 was this 24lb 11oz Thornback ray,
caught by non member Garry Mewdell. The huge ray was a fish of a lifetime and i'm sure Garry will soon be joining one of the clubs
hopefully ours. Nigel Devey, Martin and John Quinn plus the Georgious all had a good day aboard Atlantic Blue out of Minehead, with plenty of Smoothound, tope and rays.
This ray was only 1lb 5oz short of the Bristol
Channel record.

The Annual Burnham Boats awards was on Thursday 17th April. Here are the pics of most of the winners of 2007. Well done to all you, it was a great evening!

Draper does it again!

It has been reported that during an unofficial competition on Sunday Mark Draper caught the biggest fish. This Thornback Ray is so far also the fish of the month!!  Well done Mark!

Thanks Tony for the pic and report!

Winner of the Ray Farthing Trophy 24th Feb 2008

Tony Tandy fishing aboard Halcyon has earned Chris some early boat points with his win at the Ray Farthing Tophy Comp. Although not pictured the winning fish was a 10lb 11oz Thornback. This cod weighed in at 4lb 7oz. Well done Tony, a good result as only four fish were weighed in at this comp! For all the other pics click Competition News

Cod Capers!
With six boats out on the 23rd December, the results were not encouraging, reports Chris Evans! Very few fish caught, and one person just glad to pick up a single whiting during and eleven hour session. (Steve George). Some did fair a little better, Mark Bowden has now taken fish of the month so far with a fine flounder of 1lb 8.5oz 87.50% and Wayne Latham took a good cod of 11lb again, out fishing Dave Harding and crew, who did at least take one of 7lb 13oz, but yet again lost another pound to the Optima Boys!

Thanks Chris Evans for the report and pic!

JUNIORS FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT!!

Young Chris Georgiou wasnt content with his dad setting a new club record with his Bull Huss of 11lb 2oz, so he caught another Bull Huss the following week weighing in at 11lb 9oz stealing the new club record - WELL DONE CHRIS - if anyone has a photo please send it to me

Weymouth Wanderers!

Steve George and Neil Flay had a great day fishing a wreck 15 MILES out from Weymouth! Steves Turbot weighed in at 15lb 2oz and Neil's Conger 44lb 13oz!. They also took 5 ling between 13lb 6oz and 18lb 2oz!

Chris Lindsey, Joe Jeffrey, and Dave Teather also had a good days sport with Black Bream and a specimen Plaice for Dave at 5lb 1oz!

But for all the good things that happen there is always the odd mishap reports Chris Evans, Steve and Neil got pulled over at 2.30am for speeding, (but got away with it), and Chris had his glasses ran over after Dave made a quick turn and they shot off the dashboard, out of the window into the path of the van behind!

Thanks Chris for the news and Pics!
