Sunday 24th November 2013

Natalie Jane and Craig’s boat fished Burnham on Sunday over high water.
I fished on Craig’s boat and we had 15 rays up to 8 or 9lb and a couple of eels to 15lb.
Natalie Jane struggled with only a couple of rays and 1 eel.

Portishead Cod Comp Update

Please note that the Marina have advise that there are revised LOCK IN times for the Cod Competition.
 

New locking in times are  1415 hours replacing the previous 1445 hours
 

And
 

1515 hours replacing the 1545 hours.
 

This is due to slight changes in predictions as advised by Marina Staff.
 

LOCKING OUT times remain unchanged.

Details for Portishead Cod Comp

 COD Competition Sunday 1st December 2013

 

Subject to the weather, the above competition will take place based on the following locking times.

 

Lock Out   0800 hours and 0900 hours

 

Lock In       1445 hours and 1545 hours

 

Competitors to book in at Reel Fun at least 30 minutes before locking out to pay Competition Entrance Fee and to collect Boat Safety Tag.

 

In the event the weather forecast for Sunday looks like being too rough to fish, the decision to cancel the event will be made at 1400 hours on Saturday 30th November.

 

Arrangements have been made with Marina Management for a 50% reduction in fees for trailer launches, recovery and overnight stay. Captains must contact Marina directly to make own arrangements for payment. Marina Telephone # 01275841941.

 

Entry fee £20 per angler, £10 towards prizes and £10 towards the Portable Scanner unit for Brentry Hospice, members and non-members alike. Minimum of two anglers per boat. Only paid up member’s owned boats at Portishead and Burnham Boat Club will qualify for the competition. However, guests are permitted on qualifying boats subject to paying the entrance fee.

 

There will be three prizes which will awarded to the heaviest 3 Cod which must be weighed in by 1700 hours at REELFUN

 

  • 1st Prize  £150
  • 2nd Prize £100
  • 3rd Prize  £50

 

SAFETY BOAT for the day will be “GEMINI” monitoring VHF Channels 16 and 8 and Mobile 07885885925.

These details will be circulated to all competitors by Email several days in advance and in writing on the day of the competition.

 

  • Boats leaving on 0800 hours lock out must return by the 1445 hours lock in at the latest. Boats leaving at 0900 hours lock out must return by the 1545 hour lock in at the latest.
  • Last fish to scales for weigh in by 1700 hours at REEL FUN.
  • Each angler may use a maximum of two rods with a maximum of two hooks per rod.
  • A minimum of two anglers per boat.
  • Boats must be adequately fendered on both sides as boats may be required to berth between boats in the lock.
  • Life jackets must be worn entering and leaving the lock.
  • Minimum length of COD for weigh in, 20 inches as per Club Rules.

 

 

At the conclusion of the competition all captains must report their safe return to Reel Fun and return their safety tags.

 

Each Captain is responsible for making own lock out booking with the Marina.

Top Boat Comp Sunday 17th November

001Four boats fished the Top Boat Comp on Sunday 17th November, Ultrawhite, Sean’s Flyer, Obsession and Vicoue. It was a fairly slow day all round.
First place went to Gavin, a guest on Vicoue with a Thornback ray of 10lb 7oz.
Second was Nigel Devey with a cod of 3lb 1oz.
