Friday 25th April 2014

Took our boat out on Friday for only the second time since we have had it!
Just me and Pete Nicholson, launched at 6am and back in at 5pm it was a long day.

We started off at Brean and it was cold, windy and a slow but steady start with maybe 6 dogs, 3 or 4 rays and a few eels. At slack we started to swing around a bit so we decided on a move to the club bank to try for an early bass.

We had 2-3 feet of water under us when we dropped anchor and caught fish quite quickly. Loads more doggies up to 2lb 5oz for Pete and rays biggest just over 10lb to me smile.gif

We both missed a couple of really fast bites likely to be bass and, Pete managed 3 codling around 1lb. We then had a run of eels, I had a good one 20-25lb, we got it on board to weigh it but, it went mental after I unhooked it jumped out of the net into the transom and over the side laugh.gif laugh.gif

More dogs and small rays. we finished with easily 30 plus doggies, over 15 rays, 25-30 eels and the 3 codling with Pete taking most of the fish.

Happy days smile.gif

Tuesday 22nd April 2014

Vicoue launched from Burnham for a short trip over high water on Tuesday. We headed out to a bank to find some tide and had a dozen or so eels, with the biggest weighing 14lb 12ozs, at least 8 rays and Pete had 5 or 6 doggies. Most fish came on the ebb and it was a lovely flat day.

Just for the crack ………Easter Caption Competition

Happy Easter everyone hope you all had plenty of eggs and enjoyed a few days off work and maybe even a few hours fishing.

I thought it was about time we had another website competition so here goes.

Here is a picture of a former club Chairman, some may say his best side, butt, I’ll leave that for others to judge!!

The first part of the competition is to correctly name the person pictured below.

The second part of this competition is in the form of a cheeky caption for this picture.

So just to recap the competition is:

A: Who you think is in the picture?

B: Your caption for the picture.

Please send your entries to

by Midnight on Sunday, 11th May 2014.

The winner as judged by me will receive a £10 fishing tackle voucher.
