Easter Comp update

Not long left for entries to the Easter Caption Competition.

I’ve already had some good suggestions so get your thinking caps on!

Pete Nicholson would also like me to point out that despite what Mark says it’s not Pete 😆 😆

Here are a few of the butt suggestions so far:

“Hurry Gladys and get the nut crackers and we can have ourselves a eunoch.”   Fred Saxby

“Where did I park my bike?” Richard Saxby

“That’s a nasty crack. Where’s the poly filler” Pete Nicholson.

Details of the comp are below, and you only have until Midnight on Sunday 11th May to enter.

So get thinking!

Here is a picture of a former club Chairman, some may say his best side, butt, I’ll leave that for others to judge!!

The first part of the competition is to correctly name the person pictured below.

The second part of this competition is in the form of a cheeky caption for this picture.

So just to recap the competition is:

A: Who you think is in the picture?

B: Your caption for the picture.

Please send your entries to

by Midnight on Sunday, 11th May 2014.

The winner as judged by me will receive a £10 fishing tackle voucher.

Saturday 3rd May 2014

We launched our newly named boat, Four Buoys, around 9 am on Saturday morning and after giving the kids a quick spin, we headed out to a coral bank near Hinkley.

It was quite a cold and slow start with just a few small rays, dogfish and an eel so we moved to the club bank to fish the rest of the ebbing tide.

As the tide went out and the sun appeared we started to catch more fish and the small codling started to show, all around the 1 – 1 1/2lb mark and some more rays and a dogfish.

We were still catching fish as the depth dropped away and we decided to stay where we were until the tide turned.

Sport slowed so once we had enough water we upped anchor and switched to the other side of the bank for the flooding tide. Catching more of the same until Dicky had this ray that was easily over 12lb wish we’d had our scales so we could have weighed it properly but it was a lunker.

Back in at 7-30 pm we ended the day with around 30 codling, 15 rays, a dozen doggies and a few eels, another successful day’s fishing 😎
