April 2010

  Plaice.

After all the bad weather in recent months, some of our members have made the most of the great weather over the last two days. Steve George and Neil Flay took time out on Friday 9th and spent the day at Weymouth in almost millpond conditions. Fishing their favourite wreck, they had a reasonable day with Bull Huss, Ling, Pout and of course their usual Conger. Best specimen of the day being a Conger of 46lb, this time for Steve not Neil.

  Mark Bowden.

Saturday 10th Terry Garrett, John Chinn, Pete Nicholson and Mark Bowden all ventured out in flat calm conditions from Burnham. They all reported a great days sport and plenty of species. Codling, Whiting, Thornies, Dogfish and Conger. The most unusual species of the day was a 15 oz Plaice caught by Mark Bowden.

All in all , Good fishing, Great Weather..

  Ice Fishing.

This weather hasn't stopped one of our members fishing areas of his pond that he cant normally cast to.

Steve took advantage of the weather to try a spot of 'ice fishing'.

He reports that the fishing was slow but the Lager was at a perfect summer temperature.

  Craig Willis, being towed.

Craig Willis got stuck after the competition and had to be towed out by 'MARTIN QUINN' with new tyres on his truck.

(I'm sure this cannot be correct , isn't it normally the other way round)!!!!!

Thursday 10th December

  Five Bearded Rockling

With a break in the weather two of our boats made the most of it and headed out to sea.

Pete Nicholson and Mark Bowden chose to fish home waters, and report that fishing was slow. Small Whiting and Codling along with Thornback to 10lb was the order of the day, with an unusual mini specimen, a 2oz Five Bearded Rockling.

Neil Flay with the 'Fish of the day'

Steve George and Neil Flay decided on Weymouth for their day out, and fished a reef mark where they hoped to find good Whiting and possibly Cod. But as these were proving hard to come by, the reason became clear when Neil boated two Conger one of 47 lb 5oz and the 'Fish of the day' another Conger of 64 lb 7oz.

Steve George with 3lb 1oz Pout

A good day in flat calm conditions was on the cards for Steve George and Neil Flay when they had a trip out from Weymouth.

With Bass, Bream Scad, Red Gurnard and the infamous Conger,( all under size). The top fish of the day was a 3lb 1oz Pout caught by Steve.
