Weymouth Wanderers!
The boys from Heron and Makita have been out on their Weymouth adventures again with yet more and unexpected results.Steve and Neil on Heron decided to beat the holiday crowds and went down and did a long stint on Friday 30th Mayovernight, while Terry and John being older and needing more sleep went down on Saturday morning. Steve and Neil knowing that petrol is cheaper in France headed off for their long range wreck mark so that if they got low on fuel they could always fill up over there.Terry and John on the other hand did their fishing drifting Portland ledge,so that they would not be home late for bed. I got a phone call at about 11:30am from Steve asking if I would be home at about 1330 to weigh some fish if they stopped in on their way home, and as I had just got back from holiday it was OK by me.1400 came and went and after a call to Steve I was told that they would be a bit later as they had bumped into Terry and John and were now catching more Cod than they had seen all year.So as for the fish, at the end of the day Neil again took the best Conger of the day with a fish of 64lb 13oz while Steve took Conger of 59lb 05oz and 48lb 05oz. They also reported many others to 30lb + and Neil also took a Ling of 18lb 05oz. As for Terry and John their score at the end of the day was one Pollock and 13 Cod all between 7 and 12lb also the bonus of catching fish of this quality while wearing T-shirts and sunglasses.

Super Ling!
Some of our members had a good day on Saturday 10th May out of Weymouth. Plenty of fish being caught in the area including reports of Black Bream, Bass ,Bull Huss, Conger to 20lb+ aslo the ever popular Doggies. Mackeral are also about in good numbers.Steve George managed to get out to one of the long distant wrecks where he produced this specimen 21lb 13oz Ling, and as we can see by the photo weather conditions were perfect.
Thanks Chris for the report and pic!

Massive Ray!
The highlight of the day for the Bristol boys out on a charter trip from Minehead on Sunday 27/04/08 was this 24lb 11oz Thornback ray, caught by non member Garry Mewdell. The huge ray was a fish of a lifetime and i'm sure Garry will soon be joining one of the clubs hopefully ours. Nigel Devey, Martin and John Quinn plus the Georgious all had a good day aboard Atlantic Blue out of Minehead, with plenty of Smoothound, tope and rays.
This ray was only 1lb 5oz short of the Bristol Channel record.

Tony Tandy fishing aboard Halcyon has earned Chris some early boat points with his win at the Ray Farthing Tophy Comp. Although not pictured the winning fish was a 10lb 11oz Thornback. This cod weighed in at 4lb 7oz. Well done Tony, a good result as only four fish were weighed in at this comp! For all the other pics click Competition News
